Bear with me, it is difficult to write about oneself.
I started out by going to school to get a data processing certificate. Learned  COBOL, BAL and RPG III.
Went to work at a gold mine. Started out in Fire Assay, moved to the office to do the payroll when they figured out I could do the job. Wrote a Basic program for payroll calculation (easier than doing it by hand) on an HP 60. Started writing a Basic program to track gold through the closed heap leach system we employed. It would have been a sweet program...assayed gold content from core drill samples, through removing over burden, hauling ore, leaching, electro winning (winning the gold from the cyanide solution onto steel wool), to pouring gold bars. Oh well, we were bought out by a company not interested in my program. I found out about five years later I should have stuck with it. Three dimensional computer generated maps of ore bodies is in demand, and that was just the first part of the program I was writing. *heavy sigh*
Anyway, I went off to get married and have three male children (all productive, hard working, educated adults now) and re-entered the work force via accounting. Oh, I went back to school and earned an AA degree in accounting.
The computer world had left me in the dust during my hiatus time. Since it is just bits and bytes (and logic), I knew it was only a matter of time and I would be back up to speed.
Six years ago I landed a job with a software company. Not writing, but supporting a bulk email software. The main components of the email industry...databases, mail servers, email HTML and rules for reputation management.
Anything you want to know about the world of emailing, just ask.
A year and a half ago I caught up with the current world of computers. I got my hands on a bunch of books, was adept at Google and Visual Studio was free so I learned ASP.NET. That is the best thing since peanut butter. I wrote the Assured Email Delivery web site to work with Power MTA and sell emailing services for the company I work for - Arialsoftware. While I am not polished, I do love it. Being able to recognize elegant code is where I am at today, writing elegant code is my goal.

In my free time I master the backcountry of Wyoming. Oh yeah....horses, guns, backcountry camping, 25 mile trips, bears, breathtaking beauty and a tremendous amount of self reliance.
